he E18-D80NK Adjustable Infrared Proximity Sensor Switch is a compact, non-contact object detection sensor designed for robotics, industrial automation, obstacle detection, and DIY electronics projects. It uses infrared light to detect nearby objects and provides a digital switching output when an object enters the configured detection range.

With an adjustable sensing distance of approximately 3cm to 80cm, this sensor allows users to tune the detection range according to their application. Its integrated infrared transmitter, receiver, and detection circuitry make it convenient to use in automated systems that need to identify the presence of an object without physical contact.

The E18-D80NK is commonly used with microcontrollers such as Arduino and ESP32, as well as suitable control circuits, for building obstacle-avoiding robots, object counters, automatic switching systems, and smart automation projects.

Key Features

  • Adjustable Detection Range: Approximately 3cm to 80cm.

  • Infrared Detection: Detects objects without physical contact.

  • Digital Switching Output: Provides an output signal for object detection.

  • Adjustable Sensitivity: Detection distance can be tuned using the adjustment potentiometer.

  • Integrated Sensor Design: Combines infrared sensing and detection circuitry in one unit.

  • Non-Contact Operation: Helps reduce mechanical wear associated with contact switches.

  • Easy Integration: Suitable for microcontroller-based and automation projects.

  • Versatile Applications: Ideal for robotics, object detection, and automated control systems.

How It Works

The sensor emits infrared light and monitors the reflected light received from an object. When an object is detected within the configured sensing range, the internal detection circuit changes the output state.

The built-in adjustment potentiometer allows the user to change the approximate detection distance. A connected controller can read the switching output and respond by activating a motor, relay, buzzer, indicator, or other control circuit.

Detection performance depends on the object's color, surface, size, angle, and surrounding lighting conditions. Dark or infrared-absorbing surfaces may reduce the effective detection range.
